Reynvaan Family Vineyards (pronounced “Rhine-van”) is a family-owned and operated winery dedicated to producing Rhône-style red and white wines, along with distinctive Bordeaux varietals that reflect the unique terroir of our estate vineyards.
Our journey began in 2005 with the planting of “In The Rocks” Vineyard, located in Milton-Freewater on an ancient alluvial fan of the Walla Walla River. This site is renowned for its cobblestone-laden soils, which create wines of incredible depth, minerality, and complexity. In 2008, we established “Foothills in the Sun” Vineyard in the foothills of the Blue Mountains, where deep silty loam and wind-blown loess provide a striking contrast in terroir, resulting in wines with exceptional structure and freshness.
At Reynvaan, we believe that great wines start in the vineyard. Our hands-on, holistic approach to farming and winemaking ensures that every step—from planting and trellising to pruning, dropping fruit, hand-harvesting, and meticulous berry sorting—is done with care and precision. By working exclusively with estate fruit, we capture a true sense of place in every bottle, crafting wines with complexity, balance, and age-worthiness.

“In The Rocks” Vineyard
Planted in 2005, “In The Rocks” was our first vineyard in the Walla Walla Valley, located in Milton-Freewater, Oregon.
Widely regarded as one of the most unique terroirs in the United States, this site sits on an ancient, dried-up riverbed filled with smooth, river-tumbled basalt and granite rocks—evoking the famed vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. These soils were shaped over 15,000 years ago when the Walla Walla River shifted course, creating an alluvial fan that left behind a deep bed of ancient river rocks.
The extreme rockiness forces vines to push their roots deep into the earth, leading to wines of remarkable complexity and site expression. The large rocks absorb heat during the day and radiate it back to the vines at night, moderating temperatures and aiding in ripening. This combination of poor, well-draining soils and heat retention produces wines with intensity, elegance, and a profound sense of place.
Spanning 26.5 planted acres at an elevation of 800 feet, “In The Rocks” is home to Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, Viognier, Grenache Blanc, and Marsanne. Each varietal thrives in these challenging yet rewarding conditions, producing wines that express the unique interplay of soil, climate, and meticulous vineyard stewardship.
“Foothills in the Sun” Vineyard
Nestled at the base of the Blue Mountains on the eastern edge of the Walla Walla Valley AVA, “Foothills in the Sun” Vineyard sits at 1,600 feet in elevation, making it one of the highest sites in the region. The soils here are a complex blend of deep silty loam—shaped by millennia of wind-blown loess—interwoven with clay, iron, and remnants of the ancient Missoula Floods, including pockets of large rocks that enhance drainage.
Originally planted in 2008 with Syrah and Viognier, the vineyard expanded in 2023 with the addition of Merlot. Its gentle western and southwestern exposure captures ample sunlight, while dramatic diurnal temperature shifts—soaring to 90°F by day and plummeting to 40°F at night—preserve vibrant acidity and freshness in the wines. This rare combination of elevation, soil diversity, and extreme temperature swings creates wines of remarkable depth, energy, and site expression.
